Frequently Asked Questions

Who should attend Cardiac Rehabilitation?

Attendance in an outpatient Cardiac Rehab program is appropriate for the following diagnoses:

  • A heart attack within the past 12 months
  • Coronary stent implant
  • Coronary artery bypass graft surgery
  • Heart valve repair or replacement (including TAVR)
  • Heart transplant
  • Angina
  • Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)

How long is each session?

Each session lasts between 45 and 90 min depending on your fitness level and progress in the program.

How many sessions do I need to attend?

It is generally recommended that a person attend up to 3 sessions per week for the most health benefits. In general, Cardiac Rehab attendance ranges from 12 to 36 sessions, however, the number of sessions depends on a variety of factors including your cardiologist’s recommendation, your risk factors, previous experience with exercise, severity of your heart disease, as well as your progress in the program.

Will my insurance cover the costs?

Most insurance companies cover at least a portion of the costs, and many cover the entire program. Our staff will verify the coverage limitations with your insurance provider prior to your first session.

What happens if I miss one of my sessions?

While missing a session may slow your progress in achieving your goals, it does not affect your standing in our program. We offer a make-up day on Friday each week to accommodate busy schedules, doctors appointments, vacations, etc.

How do I enroll in Cardiac Rehabilitation?

A physician referral is required to begin any Cardiac Rehab program and should be written by your Cardiologist. After we receive your referral, an initial intake will be scheduled in order to learn more about you, assess your current functional status, and set your goals for success in our program.

Where should I park?

Parking is available in either Garage A or B, both located off Calvert St.
