MedStar Orthopaedics Foot and Ankle Surgeon Lew Schon MD Sings to a Sold Out Crowd at the Foo Fighters Concert
MedStar Orthopaedics' foot and ankle surgeon, Dr. Lew Schon rocks out with the Foo Fighters at Boston's Fenway Park
July 22, 2015
Lew Schon, MD, of MedStar Orthopaedics, is known as a “rock star” in the world of foot and ankle surgery. He is the past president of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, an inventor of ankle replacement prostheses, and a pioneering researcher in orthobiologic technology. But perhaps he is now best known as a bona-fide rock star, after performing in front of 45,000 screaming fans at Boston’s Fenway Park in July 2015. After being invited on stage by the Foo Fighters’ lead singer Dave Grohl, Dr. Schon surprised the band with his emboldened performance of the White Stripes' Seven Nation Army, a fitting choice for any Baltimore Ravens fan. Grohl then declared to a sold out crowd at Boston's Fenway Park, and to the world, that Dr Schon is his orthopedic surgeon. Video of the performance went viral, and was reported upon by media all over the world.
Dr. Schon leads a team of fellowship-trained foot and ankle surgeons including Gregory Guyton, MD, Stuart Miller, MD, Jacob Wisbeck, MD and Steven Kulik, MD. They are all part of MedStar Orthopaedics, which brings together the skills and expertise of more than 80 physicians at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center, MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital, MedStar Harbor Hospital, MedStar Union Memorial Hospital, The Curtis National Hand Center, and more than 20 community locations. Our physicians treat the Baltimore Ravens, Washington Nationals, Washington Wizards, Washington Capitals, Baltimore Blast, US Lacrosse, and the majority of collegiate, high school and recreational teams in the region.
