New Office at Waugh Chapel Towne Centre Opens Tuesday, April 21 

GAMBRILLS, Md.—(April 16, 2015)—MedStar Health will open a new office at Waugh Chapel Towne Centre on Tuesday, April 21, bringing Anne Arundel County residents convenient access to the region’s best orthopaedic and sports medicine care.

Comprised of experts from MedStar Harbor Hospital and MedStar Union Memorial Hospital, complemented by a wide range of therapy services from MedStar National Rehabilitation Network, the orthopaedic and sports medicine team at Waugh Chapel specialize in the surgical and non-surgical treatment of both common and uncommon musculoskeletal conditions and injuries involving the bones, muscles, joints, tendons and ligaments.

Featuring two of the region’s top sports medicine physicians—both born and raised in Anne Arundel County—the team also provides unique expertise to prevent and treat injuries specific to sports and exercise in athletes and active patients of all ages and skill levels.

Beginning with accurate diagnosis, the team offers comprehensive and customized treatment including advanced diagnostic tests, minimally invasive procedures, pain control, physical therapy, and support through the entire process, from evaluation through surgery, if necessary.

Milford H. Marchant Jr., MD
Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine 

Dr. Marchant is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon at MedStar Harbor, born and raised in Annapolis. Fellowship trained in sports medicine, he has extensive clinical expertise in treating a wide variety of sports-related injuries and arthritis of the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee. Dr. Marchant specializes in the non-operative and operative treatment of injuries in adult and youth patients of all skill levels, from recreational to professional athletes. Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Marchant continues to care for the region's professional and amateur athletes. He serves as the head team physician for the Major League Lacrosse Champion Chesapeake Bayhawks. In addition, he provides medical coverage for several of the region's top high school athletic programs, including Arundel, Chesapeake, Glen Burnie, Meade, North County, and Northeast high schools.

Jeffrey V. Mayer, MD
Primary Care Sports Medicine

Dr. Mayer, a Severna Park native, is a primary care sports medicine physician at MedStar Harbor, specializing in the non-operative treatment of musculoskeletal of sports injuries, as well as arthritis of the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee and ankle. Utilizing the newest technology in musculoskeletal ultrasound, Dr. Mayer is able to rapidly diagnose and treat his patients with precision care. In addition to serving as the team physician for the Major League Lacrosse Champion Chesapeake Bayhawks, Dr. Mayer is the team physician for Arundel, Chesapeake, Glen Burnie, Meade, North County, and Northeast high schools.

Robert McKinstry, MD
Hip and Knee Replacement

Dr. McKinstry is a board-eligible orthopaedic surgeon at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital. He is fellowship trained in total joint replacement and reconstruction, including revision, partial knee replacement and outpatient procedures. Dr. McKinstry specializes in anterior hip replacement.

Tariq Nayfeh, MD, PhD
Hip and Knee Replacement

Dr. Nayfeh, a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon at MedStar Harbor, specializes in the treatment of joint pain and problems. Fellowship-trained in adult reconstruction, Dr. Nayfeh is highly skilled in the latest joint replacement techniques including a variety of minimally invasive procedures. He also offers outpatient joint replacement surgery as an option. He is internationally recognized for his expertise in treating complex orthopaedic problems and has been invited to travel internationally to lecture and perform surgery. 

Jacob Wisbeck, MD
Foot and Ankle

Dr. Wisbeck is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon at MedStar Union Memorial. Fellowship trained in foot and ankle surgery, he specializes in sports-related foot and ankle injuries, ankle instability, foot and ankle trauma, degenerative arthritis, flat foot deformities, bunions, hammertoes, and tendon disorders. Dr. Wisbeck is part of the faculty of the nationally renowned Foot and Ankle Fellowship Program at Union Memorial Hospital. He is involved in the foot and ankle care for many of the local college athletic program including UMBC, Loyola University, Salisbury University, Towson University and Morgan State University.

Lee Koch, PT
Physical Therapy, Rehabilitation

Koch, a physical therapist with MedStar National Rehabilitation Network, is the therapy clinic director. Specializing in rehabilitation, Koch has expertise in the treatment of common conditions and injuries relating to orthopaedics and sports medicine including manual therapy, ACL return-to-play testing, overhead throwers and concussions.
