MedStar Sports Medicine Welcomes Louis Kovacs, MD, to the Arnold Palmer SportsHealth Center at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital

Dr. Kovacs specializes in the non-operative treatment and comprehensive care of athletes and active individuals of all ages with orthopaedic and sports-related conditions.

MedStar Sports Medicine welcomes fellowship trained primary care sports medicine physician Louis Kovacs, MD, to the Arnold Palmer SportsHealth Center at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital. Dr. Kovacs specializes in the non-operative treatment and comprehensive care of athletes and active individuals of all ages with orthopaedic and sports-related conditions.

Dr. Kovacs received his medical degree from the University of Maryland, where he also went on to complete a residency in Family and Community Medicine and a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine. 

He has extensive experience treating professional, college and high school athletes. Dr. Kovacs currently serves as the team physician for the Towson University football team. Throughout his training, he provided sideline coverage with the Baltimore Ravens and served as the associate team physician for UMBC, Coppin State University and Loyola Blakefield High School; and the assistant team physician for the University of Maryland Terrapins. He also served as the onsite physician for the 2014 NCAA men’s lacrosse tournament, 2014 ACC softball tournament, 2014 MIAA boy’s lacrosse tournament and 2013 ACC men’s soccer tournament.
