MedStar Union Memorial Hospital Welcomes James C. Dreese, MD, Orthopaedic Surgeon

Dr. Dreese is fellowship trained in sports medicine, specializes in reconstructive surgery of the knee and shoulder, specifically for ligament, meniscus and cartilage problems in the knee, and instability and rotator cuff injuries in the shoulder.

Baltimore—MedStar Union Memorial Hospital welcomes orthopaedic surgeon James C. Dreese, MD. Dr. Dreese, fellowship trained in sports medicine, specializes in reconstructive surgery of the knee and shoulder, specifically for ligament, meniscus and cartilage problems in the knee, and instability and rotator cuff injuries in the shoulder.

Dr. Dreese attended medical school at Pennsylvania State University, College of Medicine. He completed an internship in general surgery at the University of North Carolina Hospitals. He attended the Hospital for Special Surgery to complete an orthopaedic surgeon residency, and went on to earn a sports medicine fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Dr. Dreese has been elected to serve on multiple national committees of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He also is actively involved in sports medicine research and has published numerous articles and book chapters. In addition, Dr. Dreese was named one of U.S. News & World Report’s 2012 Top Doctors for Sports Medicine.

Dr. Dreese joins MedStar Sports Medicine as an associate team physician for the Baltimore Ravens. He also is the chair of the Howard County Public Schools Sports Medicine Advisory Committee, and serves as a team physician for multiple schools in Howard and Baltimore Counties.
